I think that I am a pretty normal country girl. I grew up on a farm and have attended school and high school in the closest small town. I loved school and really enjoy learning and now I'm looking forward to studying Veterinary Science at University.
I got my first period when I was 13 and since then my periods have always been super irregular. I also started to get more hair growing on my arms and legs, which I hated. It wasn't just normal arm and leg hair it was dark and I had to try waxing at home which was tricky.
I didn't really do anything about it until just after I turned 16 when my periods stopped altogether for 10 months. That's when things got really bad. I began to despise myself, I felt like there was something seriously wrong with me. I had started to get even more hair growing on the back of my legs and on my arms, even on my face, it was hard to get rid of and embarrassing. I also noticed dark patches of skin discolouration and worse acne. I got really depressed and wouldn't go anywhere apart from school as that was bad enough. I started to put on weight and I felt like a freak.
Finally, after mum noticed how depressed I was and we went to the local GP who did tests and worked out I have Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome. I guess it is good to know what is happening to me, but I still don't know what it means for the rest of my life. I wonder if I am ever going to feel normal again....
